March 20, 2023

Hearthstone Investments, a specialist in private rented housing, has agreed the purchase of 31 houses in Bishop’s Stortford with the Countryside Partnerships team.

Located on the southern edge of the Hertfordshire market town of Bishop’s Stortford, the St James’ Park development will eventually include over 750 homes, a care home and a business park and is close to local shops, two well rated schools and leisure facilities. Outdoor spaces will include children’s play areas, plus a wildlife corridor and public green space.

Helen Simons, Investment Director at Hearthstone Investments, said: “The excellent work between Countryside Partnerships and Hearthstone Investments has resulted in this first transaction – hopefully with many more to come. We really enjoyed the collaboration with their team with a mutual understanding of the demands for good quality and energy-efficient private rental housing.”

Verity MacMahon, Countryside, Managing Director, Home Counties North, comments: “Working with a reliable, responsive and committed specialist such as Hearthstone Investments for the new neighbourhood at St James’ Park ensures not only that a proportion of high-quality new homes will be available for much-needed private renting housing, but also that the development continues to meet the needs of the local community.”

“Hearthstone Residential Fund 2” raised £152m at its final close in December 2021. Deployment for the fund is well advanced, with investments to date in a regionally diversified portfolio of UK private rented housing in 20 locations. This acquisition brings the total homes managed across Hearthstone Investments’ portfolio to over 1,600.
